When I was travelling to a heat for Landscape Artist of the Year with my family and we stopped at Lowther Castle on the way through the country. Apart from the stunning Castle and the beautiful paintings inside we spent time in the grounds with my son, on our return to the castle I looked across at a pathway that went off into the pines, in darkness - it just struck out against all the beauty of the setting.

My works are both literal and part memory part feeling. Living on the Isle of Purbeck I am constantly walking around the heathlands and nature reserves. I take pictures, sketches and note the sensations that this beautiful and magical place creates in and for me. In some way I am trying to pass this experience on to the viewer - to see and feel it through my eyes.
